In a bittersweet moment of their reunion tour, Oasis paid tribute to a fan who tragically died after a fall during their Saturday night concert at Wembley Stadium. During Sunday’s performance, singer Liam Gallagher dedicated the song “Live Forever” to “all the people who can’t be here tonight, but who are here if you know what I mean.” The band concluded their first run of five shows at Wembley with this touching tribute, after a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Wembley gig marked the return of the Gallagher brothers to the stadium stage together for the first time since 2009. Liam and Noel walked on stage hand-in-hand and opened the show with “Hello”, sparking a massive football terrace-style singalong to fan favorites including “Acquiesce,” “Some Might Say,” and “Morning Glory.” The setlist pleased the crowd with some of the band’s biggest hits like “Cigarettes And Alcohol,” “Wonderwall,” and “Don’t Look Back In Anger.”
Among the audience at the Wembley concert were several well-known faces, including Liam Gallagher’s ex-wife, Nicole Appleton. The former All Saints singer, accompanied by her sister Natalie, actress Donna Air, and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice from the Spice Girls), shared photos of the evening on Instagram. Liam’s daughter, Molly Moorish-Gallagher, his child with ex Lisa Moorish, also attended the Saturday night gig.
Elsewhere, Oasis guitarist Bonehead declared on Instagram that the Saturday Wembley concert was his favorite of the reunion tour so far, writing: “Best one yet.” The legendary rhythm guitarist, who left the band in 1999, has reunited with the Gallagher brothers for the first time in over 25 years, complete with his iconic Epiphone Riviera.
After the Wembley shows, the band will perform at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium and Dublin’s Croke Park, before embarking on tour dates in Japan, South Korea, South America, Australia, and North America.
