Oasis’s ongoing reunion world tour hit Wembley Stadium over the weekend, delivering a performance charged with emotion and sending the band’s global fanbase into a fresh frenzy over their future. The Wembley show featured a poignant tribute to a lifelong friend and a casual comment from frontman Liam Gallagher that has ignited speculation about more iconic gigs next year.
During the concert—the band’s first UK date since the passing of Mancunian boxing legend Ricky Hatton—Oasis paid a touching tribute to the self-proclaimed mega-fan. As the band played their anthem “Live Forever,” a massive image of Hatton, who died earlier this month at the age of 46, flashed up on the screen. Wembley Stadium’s official social media later commemorated the moment by sharing a picture of the tribute with the simple message, ‘For Ricky,’ alongside a blue heart emoji.
Hatton was a close friend of the Gallagher brothers, who famously carried his belts into the ring ahead of his 2008 victory over Pauli Malignaggi in Las Vegas. Earlier in the evening, support act Richard Ashcroft also honoured the boxer by dedicating The Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony” to him. Noel Gallagher recently revealed he had been exchanging texts with Hatton just a week before his death, reflecting on the sad loss and noting the boxer’s widely known struggle with mental health.
The emotional night concluded with a moment that has dominated music news. As the band wrapped up their set before launching into the closer “Champagne Supernova,” Liam Gallagher thanked the crowd for “keeping the faith” and delivered a tantalising promise: “Champagne Supernova. See you next year.”
The seemingly off-the-cuff remark has fueled intense rumours of further 2026 dates, potentially to mark the 30th anniversary of their legendary 1996 shows at Maine Road and Knebworth. Fans immediately took to social media, with one declaring, “Knebworth is so happening. Time to bankrupt myself again,” and another simply saying, “lol bring on Oasis ’26.” With the Oasis Live 25 tour currently scheduled to conclude in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in November, Liam’s on-stage comment is the strongest indication yet that the comeback is far from over.
