The Gallagher brothers step out at Wembley for the first time in 16 years - Big Brother Recordings
London’s iconic Wembley Stadium recently vibrated with the sound of Oasis as the legendary band made a highly anticipated return, marking their first live performance in the city in 16 years since their dramatic 2009 split. The reunion tour has ignited a fervent passion among fans, with audiences of 90,000 packing Wembley for the first of seven scheduled summer gigs.
The Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, opened the show with a string of hits including “Hello,” “Acquiesce,” and “Morning Glory,” immediately setting a nostalgic tone for the devoted crowd. The connection between the brothers, often a subject of speculation, has been notably warmer during this reunion tour, with reports of them holding hands as they emerge on stage and Noel even bowing down to Liam at the Wembley show.
A particularly poignant moment of the night was Oasis’s tribute to the late Black Sabbath frontman, Ozzy Osbourne. Before taking the stage, the band played Osbourne’s cover of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” over the speakers. Approximately half an hour into the concert, Oasis dedicated their hit song “Live Forever” to Osbourne, projecting his image onto the screens as fans sang along. Liam Gallagher also personally dedicated the song to “Ozzy Osbourne: Rock N Roll Star.” This heartfelt dedication came after the passing of Ozzy Osbourne, at the age of 76 on July 22, 2025, following his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease in 2019.
The reunion has drawn a global pilgrimage of superfans, many of whom have traveled extraordinary distances to witness the historic concerts. Nabil Noor, 28, and Diana Ismail, 27, embarked on a 6,500-mile journey from Singapore, spending around £500 on tickets and £2,000 on flights for their one-week stay. Other dedicated attendees included Heather Lhote from Paris, Andrea Di Donfrancesco from Bologna, Italy, who is following the band to multiple cities, and fans from Aberdeen, UK, and even Manchester, the band’s hometown.
The Wembley concerts follow earlier successful shows in Cardiff and homecoming gigs in Manchester, underscoring the enduring appeal and significant emotional impact of Oasis’s reunion on their dedicated fanbase. The event was not just a concert but a deeply personal experience for many, including a fan battling terminal cancer who fulfilled a lifelong dream by attending.
